Managing Technology Means Managing Your Business

BPK&Z was asked to help a client in the relocation industry to utilize their technology as a strategic asset. The company wanted to use technology more efficiently and needed systems that supported the growth they were experiencing in both clients and employees. In order to accomplish this you need to have a plan, so BPK&Z helped them to create a technology plan to be used as a road map.

As part of any plan you need to know how much you are investing today and how much you will be able to invest in the future. BPK&Z helped the client prepare a technology budget to be used to track the investments and the return on those investments.

The company had outgrown their old Contact Management System (CRM) and needed a way to track the interactions with clients more efficiently. Tim Jewell, CPA.CITP, manager at BPK&Z, helped them select a new CRM system that became the backbone of their organization. “Now, all the interactions that transpire with clients are tracked in one place so their status is readily available to anyone who needs it. The client told me that customer responsiveness has improved greatly with the new system.”

The relocation company also noticed that their competition was giving information to clients they weren’t providing. They wanted to increase their data gathering capabilities in order to provide clients with a better platform for making decisions and to stay ahead of the competition. BPK&Z helped them elect a business intelligence software that could gather such information as existing home sales and the average costs associated with moving an employee, as well as other useful information that helped their clients make more informed decisions.

BPK&Z continues to provide the client with a technology plan and budget each year. Jewell commented, “To make sure they are on track and their projects are running smoothly, we meet monthly. Now the company has control over their information, has a budget in place to meet their technology needs and new systems in place to ensure they are running an efficient business and providing their clients with the best service possible.”
